My Services

I am passionate about helping individuals and families overcome obstacles and have more meaningful and enjoyable lives.

There are times we find ourselves stuck facing barriers to achieving our goals.  Counseling helps us move past these issues by increasing our self-awareness, self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-confidence.  We become freer to fully experience and express all of our emotional states.
Individual Adolescent Counseling
Becoming an adult is challenging. For adolescents, these years are a time of intense change dealing with demands of school, becoming independent, determining self-identity, joining the workforce, building self-esteem, facing peer pressure, managing family conflict, dating and relationships, and preparing to leave home. Between the ages of 12 and 24, the brain continues to change and develop in important ways that have an impact on behavior and relationships. During this time, teenagers are also experiencing major emotional, hormonal, and physical developments. Talking through these issues with an adult that is independent from parents or guardians, can greatly help your child relieve pressure, process emotions, determine personal values, and make healthy decisions.  Because of the importance of parents in a teen's life, even at this age of independence, I encourage parents to be involved in adolescent counseling.  We will collaboratively determine the extent of parental involvement.
Individual Adult Counseling
In individual counseling, I will help you work towards your personal goals and, if needed, I can also help you determine your goals.  As you work through challenges in reaching your aspirations, I will help you bear and accept strong feelings that come up.   You will increase your awareness of your emotional triggers and how you react to them.  I will help you develop curiosity about yourself including your relationships with the important people in your life.  You will look at your behavior patterns and determine which ones are helpful or not helpful to you. You will develop your ability to be more fully expressive of the whole spectrum of emotions such as love, joy, fear, and grief.
Family Counseling
In family counseling, I help family members slow down and really listen to each other. Being able to share thoughts and feelings, as well as feel fully heard by loved ones, can have a profoundly positive impact on families.  Family members find areas of agreement and ways to accept the areas of difference in order to move forward together. Family members learn how they can support each other and also set important boundaries with each other.  With parents, I share information about developmental norms and evidence-based parenting approaches that may help you through a period of family transition and growth.
Group Counseling
Group counseling provides a unique opportunity to be with others, receive support while processing issues in a confidential setting, build relationship skills, increase self-understanding, and feel accepted.  Group counseling is an especially powerful tool in helping you see things in new ways.  In group, you have the advantage of giving and receiving feedback from other group members. You can learn to talk to people in a more direct and open way—a skill you can use in all your relationships.  You will feel more alive and comfortable with who you are.
Mixed Gender Teen Process Group

I feel strongly about the power of groups for teenagers.  As teens begin turning their attachment needs toward peers, peer pressure puts them in risky situations.  Participating in a counseling group allows teens to obtain peer support and build independence in a safe environment.  Teenagers need to be talking about the changes they are going through and the difficult choices they are facing.  Group counseling is a great place for these discussions!
